Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

A spectacular and surprisingly intimate look at the characters that usually lurk in the background combines to form an excellent addition to the growing franchise.

Godzilla (2014)

A fun but basic monster movie, where the kaiju have more personality than the humans.

Wonder Woman (2009)

Diana is actually well written and Nathan Fillion is great as ever, but ultimately Wonder Woman fails to justify its plot in any meaningful way.

The Magnificent 7

Diversity done, if not right, then certainly better than required in an entertaining, action-packed retelling elevated by an excellent cast.

A Knights Tale

The greatest rock-infused-jousting-medieval-meta-analysis-of-class-structure movie ever made, with one of my all-time favourite casts. I'm a fan. Can you tell?

London Has Fallen

Nope. Terrible. Awful. Imbecilic. Nuking the god damn White House would actually be more believable than this plotline. And much more effective!

The Huntsman: Winter's War

A fun fantasy that builds on the best parts of its prequel but never really breaks out of its shadow. Had they been made the other way around, this would be the superior film. As it is, it's just about good enough.

Independence Day: Resurgence

Truly an awful, awful, awful movie. Next time, just let the aliens kill everyone – it'll be much less painful.

Funny enough. If you like Key & Peele it might be worth a look but you're not missing much if you don't.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part II

A feature-filled smorgasbord of Batman plotlines, executed solidly, albeit not as thoughtfully as Part I. Worth a watch.

Jason Bourne

Despite a compelling attempt to return to the OG cast, it doesn't quite hit the ground running.
