The Croods

⭐⭐⭐ based on 1 review.

tl;dr: Fun creatures and a simple, yet consistent story make for an enjoyable ride

Spoilers Ahead: My reviews are not spoiler-free. You have been warned.

Much like it's titular family, The Croods has very few original ideas, but it's a fine way to pass the time. I'm still not sure about how ape-like the people were at the start, but I guess they were taking a literal (ish) approach to the evolutionary symbolism. I'm also not entirely clear what was causing the threat – possibly plate tectonics?

Still, anything that gives me conjoined lemurs, turtle parrots, and a snuggly giant green tiger will earn some additional points 😅 So whilst the animation is looking a bit dated, the simplistic story about familial bonds and the importance of not living in fear still works just fine.
