21 Jump Street

A ridiculous comedy with some surprising nuance that actually manage to be a half-decent satire of the excessive buddy cop movies of the past. Exceed expectations.

Swimming With Men

A comic deep-dive (pun intended) into modern questions about masculinity and what it means to be a white, middle-aged man. Sounds tedious, is actually rather refreshing, endearing, and grin-worthy.

Arrested Development

A great cast and some genuinely entertaining (albeit farcical) plot lines, but never really captured my imagination or triggered my funny bone. Perfectly watchable.

Final Space

A delightfully fast-paced sci-fi adventure that continually manages to pull off interesting endings and enjoyable characters, but can't quite get the hang of beginnings.

Baywatch

A paint-by-numbers action film with a ridiculous premise that is saved from utterly drowning in mediocrity by two great leading actors and the occasional moment of self-awareness.

Space Force

A surprisingly nuanced comedy that isn't afraid to throw punches in every direction, with an empathetic message at the core. Nothing revolutionary, but nothing to be scoffed at either.

PokΓ©mon: Detective Pikachu

An attempt was made. It's beautiful and the actors are great, but it feels a little aimless in its wanderings.

A Streetcar Named Desire

A brilliant performance of a play that is deservedly considered a modern classic. Stanley is one of the best worst characters ever written for stage.

Brooklyn 99

An absolutely brilliant new contender for the office comedy crown, with an exceptional cast and a surprisingly nuanced, modern, and human set of characters. There are some dips in certain seasons, but for the most part it continues to be charming, witty, and heartfelt.

Muppet Treasure Island

A fun, light-hearted kids movie with more than a dash of Muppet magic, though fraying a little around the edges.

The Umbrella Academy

A surprisingly original take on a superhero team, paired with a weirdly wonderful time-travel-apocalypse plot that keeps you guessing, and some utterly brilliant performances creates the best superhero show sinceΒ Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
