One of the most entertaining rants I've read in some
years! And whilst it may no longer be that pertinent to my
current career, having been the person in charge of developing a
nested, tangled mess …
Well, it only took about a week of dazed puzzling, data tables, and tearing my hair out in clumps, but I think I may finally have a rough content taxonomy for theAdhocracy. A rough first version, that is. Let me explain...
Several excellent tips on how to best setup, configure, or use
Eleventy, all with excellent explanations. I particularly liked the
breakdown of the data cascade model …

It's that odd time of year, the bit between Christmas and New
Year where time doesn't really flow like you expect it to. No one
knows what day of the week it is and everything seems to be …
Last night involved a lot of brass, beats and beer, courtesy of Too Many Zooz and some unexpected friends. Needless to say, it was a huge amount of fun, so I figured I'd jot down a few thoughts that occurred to me over the course of the evening.
A full write up of our trip to Devon and the Chilterns a few weeks ago, from folk festivals to Whipsnade Zoo to tree cathedrals. We had a great, highly varied time, exploring some places we know very well from a new angle and some entirely new parts of the country.
A look back and a look forward... it must be the start of a new year. 2019 held a lot of change and personal improvement, but I can't help but feel that 2020 is going to be a big one. So what exactly do I have planned and what am I hoping for the next 12 months?
An amalgamation of all the data you get fed at the end of a year. From Spotify Wrapped, to Google tracking, to my own beer journal, a look back over 2019 from a (mildly) data-centred viewpoint.
For my 29th birthday, my parents bought us a meal at a South
African restaurant on the North Bank called High Timber. For
several months we had tried, and failed, to secure a booking only

What a great day. My work runs a quarterly rewards scheme known
as The Club and I was lucky enough to qualify this time around, so
that meant a half day and then off to a fancy restaurant for an

Who'd have thought it: both Adrian and me set New Year's
resolutions to use calendars more, so our first get together
actually happened on the date we had planned – despite the tube
trying hard to …
Having spent several years without managing to get to
Printworks, I've now been twice in a month. This time was to see DJ
Koze; not quite the immense personal favourite that Goldfish are,
but still …
I mostly use my iPad for watching YouTube. So what do I do now that Google has locked my device out of the YouTube app because it's too old? Why is it possible for a company to effectively remove features from my device that worked yesterday?
An excellent collection of articles, tutorials, and advice on
modern web development challenges. From PWAs to accessibility to
caching, there's a lot of information …
I finally made it to an IndieWebCamp meetup, even if it was remote only due to the increasingly restrictive implications of the coronavirus. I learnt a lot, I had a great time, and I'm ready to start implementing a whole bunch of new ideas right here. I also took a huge number of notes from the speakers and sessions throughout the day.
I can't quite believe that The Oatmeal is turning ten
years old. I definitely can't believe how excellent these 10 8
tips/thoughts on creativity are. I don't have any personal
experience …
It's become something of a tradition in our university friend
group to get together for an early-summer party and watch the Grand
National horse race, ostensibly because a couple of the group have

Notes from my second fully remote conference, this time Sparkbox's UnConference. Being able to freely access talks from the US is a rare bonus of everything going on right now, and this did not disappoint. Musical cameos, great talks on UX, accessibility, design systems, and amazing speakers. Great event (despite the time difference).
Kasey mentioned this blog post in her talk yesterday. I wish I'd
checked it out sooner, as it pretty much covers my notes from her
(excellent) presentation but with greater clarity 👍 The perfect

The Sigma 150-600 Contemporary has been on my shortlist as the wildlife lens to get for some time. Today, it left that shortlist... and entered my camera bag! Whilst I can't go out and test it on actual wildlife right now, I have been taking some test shots around the house.
