You can see most of the main plot points in Back In The Habit coming a mile off. There's a tenuous excuse to bring Whoopi Goldberg's character back into the convent; another tenuous reason why that results in a lot of singing and general musicality; some at-risk teens sporting a variety of 90s stereotypes whose lives are magically made more meaningful via the power of song; and a big finale where they all get to stick it to the man, man! It's Glee but with better humour, even more dated cultural references, and a touch greater self-awareness.
Which is to say, it's a lot of fun. It's not exactly high art, but it hits the notes it's asked to, spends more than a little time trying to make at least surface-level social commentary, and manages to riff on the first film just enough to feel familiar, without being a retread. It presents all the right emotional inputs to give you a sense of elation at the end, the music is pretty decent, and the jokes largely land, even several decades later. Watch it and have a good time.
