The tale of my (possibly brief) foray into the world of tech reviews and market influencers.
Ever spend weeks writing something, hit publish, and then feel completely unsatisfied. That's what just happened to me. So I figured I'd try to work out why.
Having literally just pushed my ideas about job titles out into the world, I discovered that the world was coming to a totally different conclusion. That was an unusual and anxiety-inducing position to be in, but I think it was ultimately beneficial.
When does play become work? Personally, I definitely empathise with Sisyphus in relation to modern media. Whether it be video games, books, TV or even my RSS feed, as soon as I get close to β¦
You find yourself in a magical cave, holding an old oil lamp, spilling out of which is a magical Genie. You know the drill: you have three wishes and you cannot request β¦
Life is busy right now. My partner's birthday is this weekend, which also happens to be a bank holiday, so I've spent a lot of the last week organising, planning and generally prepping for a β¦
Busy, busy, busy. Life is far too busy right now. I only got back from the Hebrides on Monday and we're already packing for the next trip! Not that I'm complaining about being on the move, it's β¦
I believe that inspiration comes in waves. I've believed this for quite a while, largely because I'll have periods of time where I can draw really well, or feel like writing every day, or take a β¦
I've started this article three times. The first time it was going to be about how my creativity in writing is declining in large part because my creativity in photography and videography is rising. β¦
It's that odd time of year, the bit between Christmas and New Year where time doesn't really flow like you expect it to. No one knows what day of the week it is and everything seems to be β¦
Well, we did it: we made it to 2019! π β¦
We have seven days in a week, 24 hours in a day β but what does that actually mean when trying to set aside time to work on side projects? Once you take into account work hours, time to eat and sleep, and everything in between, is it all as bad as it feels?
A look back and a look forward... it must be the start of a new year. 2019 held a lot of change and personal improvement, but I can't help but feel that 2020 is going to be a big one. So what exactly do I have planned and what am I hoping for the next 12 months?
An amalgamation of all the data you get fed at the end of a year. From Spotify Wrapped, to Google tracking, to my own beer journal, a look back over 2019 from a (mildly) data-centred viewpoint.
If you'd asked me how I'd most like to spend my 30th birthday, I'd have said something like β¦
As far as years go, 2021 held some pretty big surprises and featured some fairly grown-up decisions. Life will never be the same again...
Having spent the day affixing all manner of things to our walls, I figured it might be worth jotting down some tips and hard-learned β¦
With half the year now firmly in the past, how are my 2022 goals coming along?
A look into my most recent productivity framework: every month set three, roughly prioritised focus areas. It's not novel, but it's been a slow-burn journey over the past twelve months or so and seems to be working well.
The trouble with drafting blog posts and then mentally filing them under "done", without ever actually hitting publish.
2023 was another BIG year in terms of, well, everything. We travelled all over the world. We attended scores of major events. And we got married. It's taken a while to write up, as a result!
What are my goals, themes, and overarching desires for the year ahead; and how does 2023 compare to what I had hoped it would become.
A look back over the twelve months that made up 2023, via the lens of the data captured about my life.
Looking back over 2024, through the lens of the data I captured (or had captured about me).
A look back over 2024, a year dominated by travel and friends β and, particularly, travel WITH friends!
So for the first time in nearly seven years I officially have a website. An extremely ugly website, admittedly, but that is largely by design β honest! Regardless, it's definitely a website and, β¦
I should probably mention why this site is so, well, bare. Basically, I like the idea of starting with a blank slate, evolving the site over time, allowing it to build itself. I think it'll be a lot β¦
It (was) 11:45, we (had) just returned from a very pleasant evening with some family/friends last seen whilst travelling through New Zealand... and I (was) arranging parcel re-deliveries. Not the β¦
This isnβt defeat, the challenge is still rolling β¦
I enjoyed reading this article, written by Ethan Marcotte. It makes some interesting points, aligns with my own cognitive bubble and provides some deeper insight into areas of stuff that I β¦
